The Tuscarawas County YMCA will be hosting a free concert from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on September 12 to begin Welcome Week.
The concert lineup begins with Burning River Church of Dover, followed by Park Christian Church of Dennison, Dover First United Methodist Church of Dover, Living Connection Church of New Philadelphia and ends with The Church at Charter’s Orchard of Dover.
The concert will feature food trucks, a corn hole, chalk art, children’s activities, and tours of the facility. A lawn area will be provided for blankets and chairs. Hitchcock Sound Co. has agreed to provide the audio equipment and technician Dan Johnson will handle the sound.
The stage sponsors will be The Church at Carter’s Orchard, the activities of Living Connection Church, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Tuscarawas County Public Library and Field of Freedom.
The goal of Welcome Week is to celebrate the contributions of immigrants to communities and to bring residents together in a spirit of unity.
YMCA Welcome Week activities will include free fitness classes for all ages on the lawn at 6 p.m. Thursday will feature yoga with instructor Mianna Morrison.
YMCA videos featuring tours of two local Tiendas owned by YMCA members, Tienda Y Pasterleria La Fe of Dover and SPT Convenient Market LLC of New Philadelphia, will be posted on the YMCA’s Facebook page during the week.
