Bergen County

In collaboration with Bergen Community College, the Black Box Performing Arts Center, based in Englewood, will host the Play On: Music and Shakespeare at the Park concert series every Sunday in August through Overpeck Park amphitheater.

Musical groups from Bergen County and the surrounding area will perform between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., featuring talent spanning a wide range of musical genres.

The concerts precede the modern Black Box PAC productions of As You Like It or Hamlet, which follow at 8 p.m.

The concert lineup includes local songwriters as well as bands performing in an “unplugged” acoustic format, including Dan Sheehan, Andy Krikun and Jeff Doctorow, Divinity Montijo and Daniel Lipata, Ginny Lackey and the Hi-Fi Band , Maurice Cobb, Melissa Cherie, Amanda Brite, Esti Mellul, Destino Rubiano and the group Hidden Figures, plus a special performance of “Englewood Idol” with Imina Adonri!

This is Shakespeare in the Park’s fourth year in Bergen County. Previously a touring series, this year’s free performances are in residence at the Overpeck County Park Amphitheater.

Entrance to all events is free. Participants must bring their own garden chairs and / or blankets.

Participants will receive coupons during shows for local restaurants to facilitate a “dinner, music and Shakespeare” experience.
