Like Danica McKellar, another brand star just signed with Rival Network GAC

Fans of many, many happy movies forever directed for Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries were greatly surprised at the end of October 2021, when it was announced that popular and longtime Hallmark star Danica McKellar had left the store to make films for their rival, GAC Family. At the time, many wondered if his exit would cause more actors to leave the channel, and now star Jen Lilley has also signed with the rival network.

Jen Lilley, also known for her longtime roles in Days of our lives and General hospital, has appeared in over a dozen of Hallmark’s mega-popular romantic films since early 2017 and is one of the most recognizable faces on the network. Deadline Now reports that Lilley has signed a global deal with GAC Media (which owns both the GAC Family and GAC Living networks) and will star in four original films for the company over the next two years. We don’t currently know when Lilley’s first film will be released under the new deal.

Those who love the original Hallmark films could have seen Lilley no later than New Years Day, when his last network offering, Where your heart belongs, made its debut. But, Lilley has previously worked with GAC Media, having starred in GAC Family’s 2021 holiday movie, Royally wrapped for Christmas. This was the first year of the network’s Great American Christmas franchise, which was tailor-made to appeal to those who love Hallmark’s. dozens of Christmas movies every year, and presented 13 new films.

While Lilley appeared in her first holiday movie for GAC Family during the holiday season, several other Hallmark movie stars did as well, including Cindy Busby, Sam Page, Chad Michael Murray, Rukiya Bernard, Jessica Lowndes, Jennie Garth, Dewshane Williams, Jill Wagner, Cameron Mathison and Christopher Russell (who starred with Lilley in his recent movie Hallmark). Yet another familiar face of Hallmark who has also signed an exclusive deal with GAC Media in recent months, Trevor Donovan, has also appeared in his first film for the network during the holidays.

GAC Family is also the new home of the When the heart calls you spin off, When hope calls, which was on Hallmark Movies Now until it moved for Season 2. Additionally, Hallmark’s former stars, Lori Loughlin and Daniel Lissing, appears in When hope calls: a Christmas in the countryside as part of the GAC Family Holiday Programming Event.

It’s unclear at this time how many other famous Hallmark faces are planning to jump ship for GAC Family, but it’s entirely possible Jen Lilley won’t be the last. The new chain (which was Great American Country before it was sold last summer) is run by former Hallmark executive Bill Abbott, who left his post with the company in January 2020, after several series of controversies broke on the network while broadcasting a gay kiss in an advertisement.

It seems pretty clear that Abbott and the rest of the GAC Media team know what to get for those who might. featured in their movies. So time will tell whether or not other Hallmark movie stars are heading into new territory.
